Favorites
Very few things can compare with reading a thoroughly enjoyable book and then finding that the author has written a bunch more books. Biblio bliss! I've listed my favorites below, in roughly the order in which I discovered them, beginning from my earliest memory:
Santa Claus book (I think illustrated by Norman Rockwell; I don't remember the exact title, just my small-child Christmas time enchantment with it,
Ideal Magazine (it counts because it's a very booklike magazine!)
Little Bear books
Childcraft books
Little House in the Big Woods
On the Banks of Plum Creek
Little House on the Prairie
All the Little House books (my standard for a good read and good illustrations for many years)
Nancy Drew
The Bobbsey Twins books
The Railway Children
Francis books
Brief Flower
Irma Bombeck's books
Papa's Wife
Papa's Daughter
Mrs. Mike
Gone with the Wind
Jane Austen's books
Dave Barry's books
Bode Thoene (Vienna Prelude, etc.)
More to come as I remember and as time permits....
